Summary: Starting in 1986 and continuing today, Helix Electric has been a key subcontractor in the construction of 11 new prisons throughout California and two in Nevada. These mega-projects typically take three years to construct and are designed to house up to 5,000 inmates. Helix Bid Packages have included inmate housing, kitchens, guard towers, armories, central control, administration buildings, warehouses, vehicle maintenance facilities, water and waste water treatment plants, lethal electrified fencing, hospitals, high mast area lighting, site electrical and telecommunications systems, and emergency power generating systems.
